I love summer school, so I’m always on the look out for new ideas to incorporate the new school year into my work or play space. The bulletin boards that are part of summer school are always full of ideas to incorporate into our space. I’ve found that there are three levels of self-awareness: 1) the awareness of knowing, 2) the awareness of seeing, and 3) the awareness of not caring.
The first level of self-awareness is awareness of our surroundings, for example, if Im sitting outside in the yard and Im not paying attention, I am aware of this. But what Im really aware is of the surroundings, like, “Oh, there’s a bunch of kids playing outside.” This is the level of self-awareness of seeing, or awareness of what is around you and noticing where it is.
The second level of self-awareness is awareness of what is around you, which is the awareness of what is happening around you. If you’re sitting in a cafe and you’re looking down and you see a child playing nearby, you are aware that its a child. But, again, what Im aware of is the environment around me, so I can also be aware of what is happening within the environment, like, Oh, there are kids playing around the coffee shop.
It’s like if youre not aware of the activity or activity you are observing around you, you can’t really be aware of it. You can only see the activity and be aware of the surrounding activity.
When we teach young children, we usually put them in environments that make us feel like we have no control over what is going on. In fact, we feel like we have no control. We don’t have to take out the trash, drive to the nearest gas station, or find parking. We walk through it. We see the world as a child would see it, and we create our own reality, sometimes in much more interesting and exciting ways.
We have one of the best ways for kids who are experiencing a lot of chaos to learn how to be less chaotic. That is, to be aware of our own chaos, our own actions, and our own thoughts. In summer school, where kids are in classes that are constantly learning new behaviors, it is very easy for them to take everything on ourselves, and to learn that, in fact, it is all their fault.
Summer school is the perfect place for kids to learn about how we create our own realities. When our kids are in a chaotic situation, they are forced to learn how to be less chaotic, to be more aware of their own actions and thoughts. As they study, their minds are free of the chaos of our world, and so they are able to learn how to be less chaotic.
The summer school board is in the office. They have a list of all the things your child is learning about on a daily basis. They are encouraged to take the time to post their own observations and questions in the bulletin. As they take the time to write their own questions and observations, they also take the time to read and review the notes they took on the board.
That’s why you need bulletin boards. They give your kids a chance to ask questions and learn about the world.
What does this mean? It means that you don’t have to be a perfect teacher, and that you don’t have to be a teacher who has all of the answers. In fact, you don’t have to be a teacher in the first place. You just have to be honest – it’s about what you do and why you do it. To be honest means that you’re open and honest to the people that you meet.
