Social workers in Puerto Rico are the most famous and influential of all living-wage-based industries. They’re the ones who are giving their employees a second chance at the lowest performing state. They are the people who make a living doing the work of their employers. These people are the most effective and most successful, and they are the ones who make the most money in the economy.
If that’s true, then social workers are probably the most valuable thing in the world. And if that’s the case, then there is something very wrong with the way the economy is working right now. There are reasons for that, but the truth is, there are a lot of people who are making a living taking care of people who aren’t making a living taking care of people.
I can’t believe that social workers are making anywhere near what it costs them to live in other states.
Social workers make anywhere from $90,000-$160,000 per year. In Michigan, the average salary for a social worker is roughly $50,000. In Kansas, the average salary for a social worker is $90,000. There are many states with higher average salaries for social workers, but in all states they are still making a pretty good living.
Social workers are not paid like doctors, lawyers, or teachers, though they can get pretty well paid. They are paid a bit differently. For example, in Florida, social workers are paid an average of 95,000 per year. In Michigan, social workers are paid a bit more than in Kansas.
On the flip side, social workers are paid far less than doctors, lawyers, and teachers. The typical social worker in Florida works an average of 70,000 per year. In Michigan, the typical social worker works an average of 60,000. In Kansas, the typical social worker is getting paid about 50,000.
I think you get my point. In all cases it’s much harder to do a social job when the pay is so high. In the case of Facebook where the social worker (or social worker employee) is paid a bit more than the average worker but still can get a bit better paid, Facebook can take out six social workers.
I would venture to say that Facebook is not the only social media platform that pays well. In fact, I don’t remember the last time I saw a Facebook ad where the price tag was $1. Maybe it was a month ago and it was $10. I can’t remember.
If social media is paid well enough that it is a viable career, then why are so many of us not employed by it? Facebook has an estimated 20,000,000 paid employees. With an ever-growing workforce and the constant influx of people seeking employment with Facebook, is it also true that there are not enough people to fill the open positions? I don’t think so. In fact, I think you can find a few unemployed people in every region of the country.
